Exciting Plans!

I've been having so much fun decorating our new home! I keep thinking of things to hang and make and how to decorate for the holidays! The more days we stay here, the more in disbelief I am that we lived in hotels for 10 months. There is absolutely no comparison from our life then to our life now. I'm having a blast being a homemaker for my husband and being able to set up a totally relaxing atmosphere when he comes home from work, where we can just drink wine, have hors d'oeuvres and eat elaborate meals every evening while listening to music :)

On another note, since we now have two vehicles out here, I get to drive the honda home this week! I'm leaving Wednesday and driving to Long Beach in time for my Pop's birthday on Thursday. I'll be able to stay with him a few days, stay with my very best friend, Rachel, for a few days and then I'll drive up to Red Bluff on the 2nd to visit more friends and family. There's too much happiness in my life to handle right now!! Hopefully Billy will end up getting Thanksgiving off and he'll be able to fly out to CA as well for a few days and then we would both fly back out to Denver together. However, in the off chance that he doesn't, I've taken necessary precautions.

This is our freezer right now:

The picture really doesn't do it justice. There are 3 weeks worth of frozen breakfasts, lunches and dinners for Billy to eat while I'm gone. I know it's a little overboard, and I know he's perfectly capable of feeding himself, but I feel sooo much better knowing that when I'm gone all he has to do is pop something in the microwave and he has a yummy, homemade meal. Not to mention I made all of the things I would never want to make while I'm here (pizza casserole, cheese stuffed chicken, chicken and dumplings... basically lots of stuff with meat and cheese).

So it's been an exciting week, and the next two should be even more so! :)

We Bought a 5th Wheel!!!

I'm in LOVE! We didn't realize how bad living in hotels was until moving into this two days ago. Just to be able to make dinner for us (that didn't involve a microwave) and sit down at a table is such a blessing! I was definitely excited to get a trailer/5th wheel, but had I been able to anticipate how much better than a hotel it would be I think we would've gotten one much sooner. I've already been able to decorate a little bit and make it our own, but I'm still in the process. Billy's been amazing at figuring out how to hook everything up and get us water and power, and preventing everything from freezing at night.
I can't believe that after 10 months of marriage we finally have our first home! I couldn't be happier :)

Happy Birthday!!!

Billy and I had a very fun and busy weekend! Friday was his birthday and he got the day off so we slept in and he opened his presents after breakfast. Then we packed everything in our hotel up and moved to Cheyenne for the weekend to attend a Reformation Conference at the church we attended when we stayed there. The first stop in Cheyenne was the Sierra Trading Post Outlet where we were able to get new winter wardrobes in preparation for the coming months! Billy got a lot of new (much warmer) work clothes and I got a jacket and, sweater and some base layers. After our shopping excursion we went to dinner at this kitschy restaurant with $1 pints and HUGE portions. Billy got all you can eat ribs and of course, they sang to him :)

Friday night we attended the conference as well as all day Saturday. Sunday we went to church and did something else very exciting, which I will be posting about in the next couple of days!!!

Harboring a Stowaway

There are a very few select bugs that I don't feel badly about killing. Flies definitely make that list. Flies at home make me crazy, but a fly trapped in a hotel room is on a completely new level of nuisance. Surprisingly we've gotten flies trapped in our rooms SEVERAL times. I'm not sure where they come from but it's bizarre how often they fly in and then can't find their way back out.

This little guy has been sharing our room for 4 days now. I don't know how to get him out! The window has a screen and I can only leave the door to the hallway open so long before I start to feel weird about it. I should probably just break down and buy a fly swatter...

Classy Cooking in the Hotel Room

Dinner last night:

They're chickpea salad tacos and so yummy!
I used this recipe to make them http://www.straightupfood.com/blog/2011/04/15/tu-no-salad-wraps/. I've made them once before and I think they're going to become a staple in our meal rotation. They're super easy and cheap to make and all I need is my trusty blender, no kitchen required! We also made vegan milkshakes last night :) Billy went all of last month dairy-free! I was really impressed with how consistent he was. He felt so much better after cutting it out (he no longer has to blow his nose like a foghorn), but he also missed cheese so much he figured a good compromise would be to just cut out milk since he was drinking at least two big glasses of it a day. So now he drinks almond milk, and our milkshakes turned out just as good as any dairy milkshake!

Billy's also talking about us possibly being able to come home for thanksgiving! So please pray that we can!!! I'm already planning all of the recipes I want to try... :)

A Long Week

It's been a long week! Billy's been working like crazy, and I've been desperately trying to scrounge up motivation to finish my term paper for my constitutional law class. I can't believe how hard it is for me to just sit down and get to work, It's like I'm six years old again and my mom's trying to get me to do the dishes, but I'm almost there: 11 pages and counting! So between that, Billy's long hours and the horribly cold weather (in October?!) we're coming off of a moderately stressful week, but on the upside.... Billy's birthday is Friday! I can't believe how excited I am for it! I feel like it's about to be my birthday! I know it's still 5 days away, but I can't help but start to plan things to do, I have to stop and tell myself that since it's his birthday I should probably make sure it's something he wants to do before I get too excited :)
And I'm still in shock over it snowing two days ago, I don't know what this winter is going to bring if it's already that cold. But I do like the cold, crisp air of fall, and this area really is beautiful. Here are a couple of pictures Billy took while working:

Beautiful!

Days off are the Best :)

Billy and I had the most wonderful day yesterday! We slept in and ate breakfast in bed while watching the news since church didn't start until 10:30. I just love lazy mornings like that. Church was great, they had a guest preacher there because the pastor was healing from hip surgery, but we talked to the pastor afterwords and he was very sweet. We exchanged numbers with a couple of people (including the pastor) so hopefully we'll meet up with our new friends later in the week! Yesterday afternoon we went to a book/music/video store and got a few used DVDS and books. We ended the evening with these for dinner: http://www.straightupfood.com/blog/2011/04/15/tu-no-salad-wraps/ (which turned out so yummy!), drinking wine and watching one of my favorite movies, Bottle Shock. A great end to a great day!
